| In the
beginning it was a tiny chameau in silverlake on hyperion
avenue. The restaurant was opened three days a week
on weekends for dinner only, along with being BYOB.
Then three years later a site for the new restaurant
was found in a long established deli shop on the busy
Fairfax avenue. The potential of Fairfax was clear to
us beneath all the forgotten shops. Thus began the work
of the transformation of chameau in late august 2004.
Now we are part of the changing Fairfax district, our
neighbors include diamond bakery, produce and fish markets,
jewelry and convenience stores along with the world
famous canter’s deli.
Chameau is a 54 seat restaurant featuring French Moroccan
cuisine. The restaurant is opened for dinner six days
a week, Tuesday through Saturday. We serve a seasonal
menu along with beer and wine. The décor is modern
Moroccan. For patrons interested in taking some of the
tastes of Chameau home with them, we also sell our marinated
olives, harissa sauce, preserved lemon dip, eggplant
dip and argan oil.
